"Opulent scenic design by Martin Flynn and breathtaking costumes by Mary Folino highlight an all-star cast led by Kathryn Brunner as Ella and Brent Thiessen as Prince Topher. Brunner’s kind and gentle demeanor belie powerhouse vocals and complement Thiessen’s charming naivete and earnest desire to do good."

"This beautiful production not only delights in nostalgia, it also breathes progress and power. It’s an uplifting, hopeful, and magical lesson in kindness, compassion, and perseverance."

Notes

I was fortunate to be cast in Pioneer Theatre Company's production of Putting It Together, which featured an incredibly talented cast of Broadway veterans with direction by Gerry McIntyre, whom I had collaborated with previously on Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella in Philadelphia. Following Stephen Sondheim's passing in 2021, regional theatres across America began to produce his work with more frequency, and I feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to celebrate such a personal influence and perform his prolific work. It is a singing actor's dream.

"Brent Thiessen as the young associate and Cayleigh Capaldi as his date have voices that bring you to the edge of your seat and knock your socks off."

"Pioneer Theatre Company’s Putting It Together is a Sondheim tribute assembled like a perfect martini. Indeed, the production resonates as the appropriate tribute to the best sentiments of Sondheim’s ingenious paragon of American musical theater excellence."

"Pioneer Theatre Company’s production of Putting It Together is an absolute delight.  With five very talented actors, excellent direction, phenomenal design, and Sondheim’s genius – this is a production worth experiencing."

"Our hearts melt when Brent Thiessen sings Marry Me A Little. His pathos takes the song Unworthy Of Your Love from Assassins and makes the ballad beautiful, even moving. It outshines its source material. As part of the ensemble, Thiessen complements his fellow exceptional performers. When performing solo, Thiessen radiates."
